Resources

There are many helpful resources that exist for those between jobs and others facing financial difficulties. These two organizations are a beginning of what I hope will become a much longer list. Your help is important. Let me know of other resources we can add here. Employed, unemployed, underemployed, or employer–we are all in this together!

Health

Sage is the Minnesota Department of Health’s free screening program and provides mammograms, pap smears, cholesterol and heart screening, and colonoscopies to qualifying individuals. I have used this program myself and can vouch for their clinical expertise, professionalism and caring manner.

If your income in the most recent month meets guidelines and you are uninsured or have high deductible insurance, there is a good chance you are eligible. You can find out about the services, eligibility requirements and participating providers here.

Computer Maintenance and Repair

Call That Girl is a computer repair and support company with locations in St. Louis Park and Rochester, Minnesota. Lisa Hendrickson built her successful business on a shoestring budget with loads of hard work. In 2008, when she started Project LinkedIn Forward, the floodgates opened for her. She realized how she could help people in transition who needed computers to conduct their job searches, but may not have the resources for maintenance or repair. And she has been helping ever since.

Lisa regularly offers a 20% labor discount to anyone who is unemployed. She is currently  increasing that discount to 50%! You can learn all about Lisa and her business, including locations and phone numbers, at her website www.callthatgirl.biz
